Full course description
In this online course, Dr. Levi Berntson will provide an introduction to the science and art of biblical interpretation, with an emphasis on the historical-grammatical method. As Christians, we are called to rightly interpret the Word of God. Professor Berntson will help you develop the skills to read, understand, and apply Scripture in its various contexts and literary genres. In completing this course, you will gain a basic understanding of the methods and tools of biblical interpretation.
Throughout this course, you will learn about:
- What Scripture is and how one ought to approach it.
- Developing the skills to read, understand, and apply Scripture in its various contexts and literary genres.
- How the New Testament authors use the Old Testament.
- The basic relationship between hermeneutics, biblical theology, systematic theology, and historical theology.
- Nurturing a love and reverent esteem for Holy Scripture.

Course Information:

About the Instructor:
Dr. Levi Berntson is assistant professor of theology at Reformation Bible College. He is also a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He earned his M.A. (Theological Studies) and M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss. and his Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen. He is the translator and editor of The Fundamentals of Sacred Theology.
