Full course description
In this online course, Dr. Ben Shaw will introduce you to the study of biblical theology, helping you trace the story of redemption throughout the Old Testament. How does the Old Testament relate to your life as a Christian? You will discover how the promises of the Messiah revealed in the law, prophets, and writings are fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Throughout this course, you will learn about:
- The organic nature of the covenantal development of the Old Testament.
- The essence of each of the Old Testament covenants.
- The relation of the message of a particular Old Testament book to its larger covenantal context.
- The connection of the Old Testament covenants to Christ.

Course Information:

- This course will be taught in alignment with Ligonier Ministries’ statement of faith and the consensus of the historic Reformed confessions as recorded in the Three Forms of Unity, Westminster Standards, and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.
About the Instructor:
Dr. Benjamin Shaw serves as professor of Old Testament. He is also a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He earned his M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from Bob Jones University. He previously served as academic dean and professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is author of several academic articles on Old Testament biblical studies, contributor to several anthologies on matters pertaining to Old Testament and applied theology, and author of Ecclesiastes: Life in a Fallen World.
