What is the purpose of life? What is human identity? How do we understand sin and its effect on the world and our lives? Dr. Keith Mathison will explore the Bible’s teaching on key issues such as creation, sin, worship, gender, family, and sexuality. This course will consider what it means to be created in the image of God and to live for His glory.

Throughout this course, you will learn about:

 

  1. Interpreting relevant biblical texts for developing a biblical doctrine of humanity.
  2. Relating the doctrine of humanity to other topics in systematic theology.
  3. Articulating the development of human nature in its fourfold state.
  4. Appreciating the significance of covenant theology for a biblical anthropology.
  5. Defending biblical definitions of gender, marriage, family, and sexuality.

Course Information: 

 

  • One lecture is uploaded and viewable per week, with a total of 12 lecture videos per course. Each lecture is about two hours and forty-five minutes long.
  • The first lecture will be available to view the week of August 18, 2025.
  • The fall 2025 semester occurs from August 18, 2024 through December 15, 2025. Lectures will be viewable during the semester only.
  • This course will be taught in alignment with Ligonier Ministries’ statement of faith and the consensus of the historic Reformed confessions as recorded in the Three Forms of Unity, Westminster Standards, and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

 

About the Instructor: 

 


Dr. Keith A. Mathison is professor of systematic theology at Reformation Bible College. He earned his M.A. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Fla., and his Ph.D. from Whitefield Theological Seminary. He is author of several books, including From Age to Age: The Unfolding of Biblical Eschatology and Given for You: Reclaiming Calvin’s Doctrine of the Lord’s Supper. He served as an associate editor of the Reformation Study Bible and previously served as associate editor of Tabletalk magazine.

  • The discounted audit rate of $120 will begin on April 10, 2025 and end on August 17, 2025. The regular audit rate of $180 will begin on August 18, 2025 and end on September 15, 2025.
