Known as “the Writings,” this section of Scripture reveals where true wisdom is found. Dr. Ben Shaw’s course surveys these books, showing how they offer guidance for godly living and point to Christ as the wisdom of God.

 

Throughout this course, you will learn about:

 

  1. The content of each of the books of the Law.
  2. The growth of God’s revelation from creation to the death of Moses.
  3. The role the Law played in the life of ancient Israel.
  4. The role the Law plays in the life of today’s Christian.

Course Information: 

 

  • The spring 2026 semester occurs from January 12, 2026 through May 1, 2026. Lectures will only be available to view during the semester.
  • One lecture is uploaded per week and viewable during the duration of the semester. Each lecture is about two hours and forty-five minutes long.
  • This course will be taught in alignment with Ligonier Ministries’ statement of faith and the consensus of the historic Reformed confessions as recorded in the Three Forms of Unity, Westminster Standards, and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

 

About the Instructor: 

 

 

Dr. Benjamin Shaw serves as professor of Old Testament. He is also a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He earned his M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from Bob Jones University. He previously served as academic dean and professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is author of several academic articles on Old Testament biblical studies, contributor to several anthologies on matters pertaining to Old Testament and applied theology, and author of Ecclesiastes: Life in a Fallen World.

  • The regular audit rate of $180 will begin on January 12, 2026 and end on February 9, 2026.
